He/Him
Founding Counselor and Owner at Fox Mind Counseling
I’m Jack Dickey (he/him), a Licensed Professional Counselor serving clients across Denver, Arvada, Wheat Ridge, and the surrounding areas, as well as anywhere in Colorado via telehealth, including Boulder and Golden. My approach integrates EMDR, Somatic/Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, IFS-informed parts work, and attachment theory to create deep, body-based healing that lasts.
I specialize in helping clients move beyond anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges to live more authentic and connected lives. I have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, polyamorous and ethically non-monogamous clients, other therapists, highly sensitive people, and those navigating intergenerational trauma, religious trauma, spiritual concerns, or chronic stress / burnout.
As a Gay, Queer, Cisgender man, I welcome clients of all genders, orientations, and relationship structures - including cisgender and monogamous clients. I believe lasting change happens in relationships built on warmth, authenticity, consent, and compassion. Together, we’ll gently explore the patterns that keep you stuck, and support your nervous system in overcoming these patterns at their very foundation.
I hold the view that all human behaviors and emotions are attempts to care for ourselves and others, even the ones which challenge and frighten us. I recognize that distressing patterns in the present are tied to disturbing experiences in our pasts – experiences which demanded we lose contact with ourselves and one another in order to ensure our belonging and survival. You do not need to stay stuck in those patterns, and I’m here to help you overcome them.
My background includes a master’s in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology from Naropa University, EMDR training through HAP, and Sensorimotor training in advanced trauma treatment. I bring over a decade of mindfulness practice to our work, allowing me to accompany you with steady, grounded support no matter how complex, scary or painful your experiences may be.
I am able bodied, and I experience chronic pain. Though I pass as White, I have White and Latinx heritage. I am in my mid 30’s, am neurodiverse, polyamorous, and was raised in a middle class, homophobic environment. I was raised Christian, spent many years as an Atheist, and have been practicing Buddhism since 2012. I support clients from all beliefs, and can offer perspectives from both spiritual and secular worldviews. When I am not practicing counseling, I enjoy spending time with friends, camping, hiking, practicing dance (I spin poi), gaming, and being with my chosen family (my polycule).
If you’re ready to heal deeply, overcome your past, or reconnect with yourself and others, I’m here to help you get there. Let’s talk.
In My Clients’ Words
What it’s like to work together.
“We’re in a real human relationship… He’s shown me that ruptures in relationship don’t have to go unaddressed - repair is actually possible… I look forward to my sessions with him.”
— Current Client
“Jack is the first therapist (or relationship for that matter) I’ve been in where I am actually able to feel my feelings all the way through, without someone trying to cheer up or stop the feeling… He’s with me through the entire emotion. This feels so significant… This has been so transformational after just a few months… I regret I didn’t meet him sooner.”
— Current Client
“I’ve never really felt attached to someone before Jack. That’s quite an accomplishment.”
— Current Client (Therapist)
“I am actually experiencing self-compassion towards myself that doesn’t feel cringey, or like I’m pretending to be nice to myself.”
— Current Client
“He’s helped me see what real, loving relationship looks like, and that’s helped me find it in my own life outside of therapy.”
— Former Client
These reflections speak to what’s possible when therapy is collaborative, embodied, and compassionate.
